Should it come down in the frame?

    Hi Denise

NIce image! The soft bark background really sets off the bird. The details in the feathers are sharp. Nice look over the shoulders with an eye is also sharp with a nice catch light. Well done!!! As to your question, I am hardly an expert but I might add a bit of canvas at the top to move the head so it is about a 1/4 or 1/3 from the top of the image. Might also try a bit off the bottom to help place the head in the upper right 1/3 of the frame.

    Thanks for sharing.

Denise - I am not sure what to suggest. I think this is one of few partial bird portraits that actually works. Often I feel like I am looking for the rest of the bird and that doesn't seem to be the case here. Perhaps because the face is so sharp and dramatic that it draws you into the image.
    Well done

    Denise:

I love your photo, beautiful colour, sharp and great expression. To answer your question, I scrolled down picture so part of bottom was showing cut off about an inch, and in my personal opinion i thought it looked more powerfull in that area.

    Lady Denise,
You are doing very well...proud of you...The eye is crystal clear and sharp, good head angle, looking back and sharp details in the wings...the soft earth tone background compliments your subject very nicely, making him stand out...:) My only suggestion to make this image rock, would be to take a little off the bottom; this way your eyes go straight to the birds face...

i like the compo as presented. only suggestion from me would be to add some density to the whites and a little NR on the bg. looks really nice to me, denise!

Hi Denise Would have been great catching the bird at a lower angle That is why it looks sort of odd... the more you crop from the bottom the steeper the angle !!! Did as good as could be expected !!!! A keeper !!!
