I chased this butterfly around taking lots of shots and then he landed on this blue plastic and I discovered an interesting trio of texture contrasts--the delicate butterfly, the shiny blue bubble plastic and the old leaves. Might use this for some personal notecards I want to print up. Is the butterfly sharp enough for reprinting? The textures contrasting enough?
Can't give you specs because it was when I was still using just auto this summer, trying to get used to my dslr. Nikon D40x.
Hi Hazel Would suggest posting at a larger size to appreciate better !!!
Do like the blue but would try softening a bit. The butterfly could use some detail in the wings, like to see them lighter. I like the feel to this image !!!
Hi Hazel,
I like your composition, and I like what you were trying to do. I did a few modification to illustrate where you can go with this capture...I blurred the blue bubbles of the plastic background, burned in the white hot spots on the butterfly's wings, and on the bubbles. I increased the saturation and contrast on the subject, sprinkled selective sharpening, and opened up the blacks in the wings for added detail. Hope you like. good concept..good show, proud of you...:)
