the chickadee shows a lot of detail, but there probably is too much noise. also, i left the branches in because that is the place it was in (..and i don't know how to make a good solid background). any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

I think this might look better as a vertical crop, also it does look a little soft. My suggestion would be to attempt to move to an area that gives you a little more light if possible(or use a fill flash),since you only got 1/100th of a second with an f stop of 5.6 and ISO 800. I'm assuming this was hand held and at 1/100sec it can be difficult to get really sharp image unless your using a tripod. But please keep them coming!

    Hi Mike

Crop and bird placement is not bad at all The vertical is an alternative but I'm fine with this one. Again the image can be sharper and would like some detail in the eye area. Bg has lots of sticks but actually not all that bad, would only remove the bright spots !!!

Agree with all above comments Mike. Bird could be a little sharper.

thanks, i guess i have to go with my instincts which leave me at shooting where i can get the most detail out of the bird.
i would rather shoot at faster shutter, but find i always get a blown out or very light bg. i don't know which is the better way to go. i know there must be a way to select my bird and put it on a bg layer, but don't quite know how yet. i will keep trying.
