    I went to get some images of the rut but I reckon I was just a tad early, no jousting and little bellowing. Anyhow I saw this young buck in the light and I reckon he looks pretty pleased with himself.

    Canon 20D Canon 500mm f4
    ISO 200
    1/1250 at f4

    Hi Jonathan,
    I like the dark BG to offset his antlers and the placement in the frame is also very nice compositionally. Maybe a hair more room on the bottom......but since you didn't clip.....I'm OK with it. Not the "ideal" position.........but te shadow have VG detail and you have details throughout the image. Nicely done!

    I like the head turn so you can see the left eye and just a bit of the right. The hair standing up on the back and rump is a great addition. The antlers are super. As a small nit I would consider darkening the green grass behind and to the left of the animal.

    I agree with the previous comments. I think though I would have preferred not having the dark line right at eye level.
