    Default Sanderling up close.

Photographed a couple of weeks ago when 2 of these were spotted along a local beach. Lying flat on the mud these guys slowly made their way closer...and then past. This was one last image before they were inside MFD. Cropped for composition (about 85% full-frame)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, 1/160s., f/6.3, ISO 640, +1 EC (histogram checked), handheld, natural light (overcast and drizzling).

Very nice image Daniel but the green spot in the lower right is very distracting and the image looks a little soft, to me anyway, thank you for all your help and thank you for sharing.

A nice tight portrait, Daniel. This guy must have been right on top of you. Sanderlings usually won't hold still for me, especially at close range. I agree with Bill that it could stand a bit more sharpening. I also find the green somewhat distracting, but I think it's mostly because of the little stem (?) that pokes up toward the beak.
