    Default Swainson's Hawk

Here's another captive bird from my shoot a couple of weeks ago. It's a beautiful Swainson's Hawk.

Very sweet image, Doug! I like how the BG color matches the bird, as well as all the details you got on the feathers! I would have liked to see the eye a bit lighter.

Love it Doug !!! Has a real nice fell and so much detail !!! Interesting that I normally don't like the location of the eye there but the rest of the image is so strong it overpowers the eye itself !! Love it as presented Might be able to tweak the eye as suggested !!! Big Congrats !!!

You did well at the captive shoot. I am so impressed with the wonderful detail, pleasing BG and exposure. I know that you get suggestions to do more work on the eye but I find it very natural looking as is. Well done.

Stunner! I like the detail in the eye and feathers. However, the inclusion of the shoulder is perfect. It adds a bit of intimacy that, to me, makes the image.

Now that's a great portrait. I agree that adding the shoulder is a good thing. You've also got your sharpening down well. It's easy to oversharpen an image like this, but you nailed it. Only suggestion I have is to lighten the eye a tad.

Thanks for the compliments! I've got quite a few of these portraits that I'll be posting over time. I really enjoyed getting to know these birds up close and personal.
