Last Friday I was fortunate to get my first pix of a lemur in the air @ Orana Park.
It was jumping from a post on to the shoulder of a zoo keeper.
In each of the 3 captures made the shutter was released instinctively before take off.
    Details: 400 ISO, 1/750 @ F5.6, 260mm. Only slight crop.

    Ian,

like the pose and excellent timing. would like to see little more space around. Whites are bit over exposed. Hard to work on a b&W subject.

I have finally realised that Levels adjustment on B & W animals is inclined to overblow whites.
Here is another image without levels adjustment and a bit more space around.

    Hi Ian,

It seems like you had some difficult light there. Personally I'd rather have underexposed blacks than overexposed whites...perhaps using some fill-flash could have helped to deal with the contrast.

    Ian,

Jasper and Sid covered my improvement comments. Nice work capturing the action. Clone out the handler's shoulder.

Edit as suggested plus a wee bit sharpening.

:) While still connected to the post it could have been bucking a stiff wind (opposed to jumping).

The second image dispels that; oh well.

I usually shoot with my camera set a hair on the side of underexposure to avoid white-out, but honestly in the sharper first image it's not that big a distraction. The action in the image makes up for it.

    Will reset camera now. LOL.
