Birding in the Houston area, this week ??

I'm heading to Houston tomorrow for three days and had planned to spend a fair bit of time around Anahuac and High Island, but I just read that the NWR's in the area including Anahuac are all closed due to damage from Ike.

Is there anywhere else in the area that is worth seeing right now? Are the birds and other wildlife coming back?? I would appreciate any info or suggestions you can give me.
