    Hi Mike,
I like your composition, you got the bird out in the clear. The background is still too busy and so is the distracting out of focus grass in the forefront. I modified your image to show you a different prospective turning it into a pano crop. see if you like... I increased contrast and saturation just a tad, and selective sharpened the eye area...:D

hi Gus. i really have to say that i like the original better. i usually agree with your changes and try to implement them in my shots. this time i like my view better. looking at it i agree the branch in the bg to be distracting and maybe the grass is too. i don't like the area around the bird which makes it look like the sharpness is only around the bird. i would include the surroundings instead of blurring them.
    respectfully,
    mike

Hi Mike, It's good to see you back. Nice capture. I like Gus' re-post. As soon as I saw it I thought to bring it down in the frame and take some off the side. I would also clean-up some of the cloning Gus left behind on the ground. Again nice to see you back!

Nice to see you back Mike !!!!

I'm torn between the two here but I think I might go with the original You did manage a pretty setting and placement. Would only clone out the one stick top left !!! Real nice Mike !!!

Great low angle Mike, might just lighten it up a bit. Way to go!

    Hi Mike,

Certainly not too bad here. Looking at your techs I notice you were using an aperture of f 5.6, ISO 800 and still only got 1/160 second. It must have been pretty dim when you were taking this photo. It looks as though it was under a feeder maybe, given the fallen seed on the ground. I think you could improve your photos greatly just by looking for better opportunities in better light. Just a suggestion..

i want to thank all of you for taking time to look at my picture.

yeah Dave i still am in an overgrown woods near my house. i always, in Summer months, have problems with shutter speed.
the part that i like is that i can sit on my porch and take photos for as long as my wife will let me.
