A photograph with lots of potential...I love the dust here...and the pose of the giraffe is very striking. However, it might need some more attention in the raw-processing as the halo around the giraffe is a bit distracting. Also the sharpness could be improved....especially in the FG....the FG is a bit busy and since it looks slightly unsharp it gets a bit distracting.

    Jasper,

Thanks for the comments, I really do not understand what is going on. Neither my Tiff file nor the JPEg conversion which I did for posting have got a halo.

Very impressive picture. I like it a lot. It is not a ordinary giraffe-picture and to be honest I have never seen a giraffe like this.. Fantastic. I agree about the halo but I do think the problem is the webbrowser. I have had many problems with pictures showing pn web with big dynamic range or hard contrasts and so on. If it lookes good on your screen I am sure it is fine...

Nice work Ken on creating a real departure form the norm in this image. I would agree with Jasper on cropping some of the bottom.

Quite a unique moment captured. A very intrigueing image, and I just love it. Another vote for cropping just a bit from the bottom. Wonderful capture.

Thanks for your comments, I am pleased that the halo problem may not be me. I am in Uk at moment so cannot try the cropping suggestion, but agree that it would probably look better with more of the bottom. Just out of interest the other Giraffe at the waterhole fled with the approach of the dust devil, it was a very lucky capture.

Very unique image! Love the detail in the foreground and the dust around the giraffe. Very dramatic image.
