M2N, Sigma 300-800/5.6 (at 800mm), Gitzo GT3530LSV, Wimberley II, Canon RS-80N3 remote switch, no MLU.
f18, 1/250 sec, ISO 250, manual mode.
Sadly, even at f18 I couldn't bring all of them of sharp focus :(
Here I remember later on how Juan Aragonés advised me in such situations, when the birds are calm to photo two shots, one focused on the left bird, and other, on the birds behind. From now on, when it's possible I will definitely try this technique.
Lovely light & details. The 3 smaller ones are spaced apart evenly & hence i wud agree with the above suggestion that there was bit more space between the taller bird & the small one on left side.
Nevertheless, its a fantastic image.
Fabs, we were hidden in the reeds before the sunrise and were photographing from 10-15 meters. We even didn't have a chance to move the lens for in flight shots ;)
I didn't thought of pulling the lens at a less mm, so as to achieve a bigger DOF and thus all the birds sharply focused. But this would lead to more details in the BKGR, so I was noware near to a win-win situation ;)
Nicolay this one is to die for. Love the composition and the low angle. I wish for just a little bit more separation between the young stilt and the others guys and, of cours, all four birds in focus but I am sure that next time you would not forget. Anyhow, the image is very nice, that 300-800 is a serious performer!
