Created this at Sonoran Desert Museum yesterday. New display I hadn't seen. Yes he was behind glass. Photo cropped very little. Any hints on how to tone down the rock base?
Info: Canon 40D, 70-200 + 2X shot at 315, f7.1, ISO 400, 1/800sec. Handheld.

I had theese type of snakes for a while. They are very aggressive but very nice to have in captivity.. Good eaters and works good....
About the picture I like it very much. You cant see any dirt on the glass between that is normaly a problem for me while photographing through glass and the toung is out.. Perfect... I am a bit worried about the noice in the background. I think it is a bit to much and also the color of the background is not perfect with the forground..

Hi JP. Nice "safe" shot! Good work with the glass. I agree that the BG is real noisey. In the repost, I toned down your rock by creating a dupe layer, selecting the rock with a quick mask brush, inverting the selection, then using a shadow/highlight adjustment on the rock only. I then flattened the layers and applied Noise Ninja noise reduction with no sharpening to the BG only. What do you think?
Thanks Dan. Definitely looks better.
JP,
Another option is selecting highlights with CTRL>ALT>~, copying using CTRL>C, creating new layer with CTRL>V and then changing the blending mode to Multiply.
