    Stuart,

Like the pose and timing. Looks little tight in the frame. Would like to see more space on the top and right. Also looks like a little bit of more USM is applied during post processing.

Unsharpen Mask. Did you sharpen GBH head using this?

    Hi Stuart -

Excellent title....made me smile! I like the running pose of this handsome Great Blue Heron...lovely wing detail and I like the raised rear foot. The low perspective works well here. I wish the bird had run a little more parallel to your position so that the head angle were more toward you. The light was pretty harsh as you can see from the shadow below the bird. Try to photograph in the soft light of early morning or very late afternoons or on cloudy/bright days. The bird is tight in the frame and could use more room all around, but especially in front so the bird has room to run into. If you are not sure about settings to use with Unsharp Mask, shoot me a private message or email and I'll send you the settings I use.

Hi Stuart - USM is unsharp mask - generally in Photoshop, you sound as if you are using NIK - I think SID was trying to say it looks like you may have applied too much sharpening to this image.

    Linda's advice is good.
