D300 200-400@300 on tripod; manual exposure mode, ISO 1600 f4 1/3200 sec. no flash. Cropped for composition and blurred the background.

After the swallows are gone, this is something that I've been trying to catch. So far I've found even 1/5000 sec is not fast enough. Guess it has to use some kind of sensor to catch them. Problem is, there seems to be no way to tell for sure which direction the small bird is taking off towards. So, fire and prey seem to be the way at least for now.

    C&C welcome !!

    Thanks!!

Actually, I have thought about just posting the one with the un-blurred background and invited anyone to try their hand on it. I left the perch in simply because I thought the perch could show better that the chickadee taken off from it.

    Thanks you !
