    Default Rainbow Pitta

Was lucky to be able to spot this Rainbow Pitta in Australia Top End. Am undecided if the bright spots due to harsh sunlight should be cloned out or not as I am not good in doing that.

I would not clone away the brighter spots of sunlight, as they provide a glimpse of the habitat of the bird. I like how the wood sort of frames the bird to the bottom and right, and I like the placement of the bird and the piece of wood to the right of it.

Hi Jay! Neat bird you photographed here. I think a tighter crop will help this image. The OOF tree in the FG is a little distracting, and a tighter crop will help eliminate some of the bright areas. Here's a repost with a tighter crop and a little toning down of the BG. I think the new crop helps emphasize the bird more. Sharpness suffers but I suspect it would look a whole lot better if I had a full-sized original to work with.

What a beautiful species, and I would guess that these birds are difficult to find and photograph! I like Doug's idea of a tighter crop if the original file will provide enough sharpness in the bird. I think darkening the eye a bit and fixing the catchlight would make a big difference as well.
