    Default Chickadee Another Try

This image drove me crazy. I think I flash burned the local Chickadee population. I shot inumerable images of them coming to my knothole feeder this morning. There was a brief lull when a hawk came by but both the chickadees and I were busy.

Look like the little guy is taking a break Chris!!!

Would frame different sliding the bird down so the extra space is up top Good detail for both shadows and highlights Sharp and the angle is not steep, just a little more of a head turn for me btw alternate would have been the bird looking into the nest !!!! Excellent !!!

Agree with the above. The colors and contrast of this one seem to be better than your first one.

If I may ask, do you know what chickadee is this one?

That's what I thought. But look at the top of the head, it's not black. It's brown.

    Desmond,
Here on the Pacific coast we have the "Chestnut Backed Chickadee" and also the "Boreal Chickadee"

    Desmond,
I forgot to state that this one is a Chestnut Backed. In winter we also get Mountain Chickadee and if the winter is extreme we will also get Black Capped.

    Thanks for clarifying.

At first I thought you were photographing a black-capped chickadee. Then I noticed the color of the crown doesn't look right. I checked my bird book and suspected it's a chestnut backed chickadee. And you confirmed my suspicion. Where I'm I've seen only black-capped chickadee. So thanks for sharing your photo of a chestnut-backed one :)
