Bull Moose from Monday in R7, T14, Maine - 3 hours North of Moosehead Lake - This guy was in full Rutt mode. He was called in and on the way ripped several Alders apart to show us how big and strong he is.
Big crop, 1DM3 on 500f4 handheld, iso800, 1/160 at f6.3, EC +1/3, AV, OneShot. Bob
I like the leave on his nose. The tight crop really makes him look large and tough. I would have been nice not to have the foliage at right but I am sure he would not have moved for you. :)
Some might copy the right side, duplicate it, flip it and blend it in on the left to cover the foliage. That type of control is an option you can chose to do or not.
That is one in-your-face portrait! Love the leaf on the nose as well but I do wish that foliage on the side wasn't in the way. Still...what a winning pose!
Bob, how about a vertical crop of the antlers from side to side, then the top to the chest area? We need to go imaging sometime. I really wanted to go way up North, like your doing now. It must be nice up there right now.
Grady, I will give it a try! YES, lets get out there before the snow gets too deep!
Mike, There are Moose everywhere in Maine, BUT where these were taken there are LOTS of Moose. They have been hunted now for almost 30 years so they are a bit shy. Bar Harbor to Portland no concentrations that I know of. If you have a DeLorme Maine Atlas on the back at map #55 is where I got this one.
