Default question on sharpness setting on Canon XTi

I shoot in RAW and the default sharpness on the camera is set at 4 for landscapes. When editing RAW using the Canon-supplied software (digital photo professional), is changing the sharpness setting in the editor any different than chaning the setting in the camera?

Terry, unless something changed with the XTi (not likely), in-camera sharpness, contrast and saturation settings only apply to jpeg captures, not raw. Not sure about DPP and how it compares with in-camera settings.

Terry, I understand that those settings only apply to the preview jpeg (the image you see on the cameras lcd screen) that is embedded within the raw file, so they can be useful as an in-field preview if you only shoot in raw. The settings are also used as defaults by the bundled Canon DPP sofware, otherwise they have no effect on the raw file.
