I know that it is difficult to get low at Ding Darling, but doing so usually yields more intimate images. I like the raised foot, and that you can see the other foot underwater. It looks as if you had a cloudy day; in those conditions with the background that you had it is almost never necessary to subtract light from the metered exposure, thus the white look dark and dingy. You can lighten them in Levels or in Selective Color (by taking Black from the Whites). Last tip: try to release the shutter when the bird's head is turned a bit toward you. Later and love, artie
