Default The Blackbird and the Reed

    Hello,

Here is a female Red-winged Blackbird photographied last June at the Carbonneau's Marsh near Sherbrooke, Quebec. Sometime we have to resist against cropping the bird and insert environmental elements within the picture. That what I did here by including this nice Common Reed :)

I hope you like it :-)

    Cheers,

The wide crop works for me. I also like the pose, eye contact and soft light and might try to remove the grass in the lower left corner.

I think it is very nice. I like habitat shots.

The common reed is lovely in this image, and I like the pose and the nice light. I would agree with Axel that the grass in the lower left corner is a minor distraction. Very nice capture.

Nice composition. The bird feels nestled in the reeds. Great capture!

I love the composition and light, very attractive, and another vote to evict the reeds on the left :)

I like the COMP, the soft light, the reeds, and the birdie. Had you moved two meters to your right, you might have been able to better frame the bird with the reeds. Lastly, the head angle is less than ideal as the bird is looking away from you.

Just a nice over-all image. Lots of appeal. Good resolution in bird; even tonal values and even lighting; no contrashading.

Thank you very much for all those pertinent comments! It is very appreciated :-)

I agree with you for the removal of the bottom left reed. I will try it!

Arthur, I agree with you also. When I saw my picture for the first time I thought "just a few feet on the right and I would have got the bird exactly between both reeds!!!" Next time maybe :-)

    Cheers!

    Michel
