More from Metro Zoo from last Saturday. Looks like I'll be posting from the zoo quite a few shots since there is not that many places to go around here yet.
Hi Oscar, I like the composition and capture; the Wood duck is place just right in the frame, and the color rendition is good. I like the ripples and the color of the water. You have a few little items that need some clean up. The focal point is not on the eye; its just below on the cheek, that’s why the eye is a tad fuzzy. The whites are blown, and so are the blacks. I tried to recover them; but they are too far-gone with no details. In addition, I see some post processing abnormalities on top of the bill (funky wavy marks), and around the neck area. Also the head angle is slightly off, it needs just a tad of CW rotation. HOME WORK: Redo the post processing and it should present better...
I have my sunglasses on Oscar. The wood duck is really a wild looking bird colour-wise. Maybe a little more sharpening on the head area. Looking forward to more shots from the zoo:)
Hi Oscar,
This looks a lot better than the woody pictures that I came back with last weekend!!! Agree about a little sharpening around the head area, but the colours are lovely and that BG is gorgeous!
Regards,
Nicki
Agree with suggestions but a fine image Oscar These guys are just about impossible to get highlight detail except under ideal circumstances !!! Might increase the contrast in the green bg just a little !!! btw Waco and Green Cay should be cranking up soon !!!
Wood Ducks are so beautiful and such a photographic challenge. I have one in my collection that I love and can't part with but like yours, doesn't have detail in the blacks and whites...looking forward to another opportunity. Thanks for sharing, Oscar.
the most difficult of any bird i ever tried to photograph. i had a pair sitting on a log in the shade on an overcast day and still blew out the whites trying to properly expose the darks!!! nice job here. would sharpen the eye are a little bit. will make it pop!!
wonder if flash would help with these birds? anyone!?
