    Here is another good shot of my buddy at Neck Point in Nanaimo B.C. This is a full frame shot at 500mm. Just barely had enough room to back up to get proper focus. I'm uploading this picture from work so I will have to make a guess on the camera settings:

    Canon 20D
    500mm F/4
    800ISO somewhere between 1/25 and 1/40 at F/8

    I wish for a bit more room at left, and some additional sharpening in the face area would be beneficial. You've had a great string of luck locating this species haven't you!! I like the texture on the bark, and of course the stare is mesmerizing :-)

    Great find and eye contact. I agree regarding more room at the left and maybe a tad more sharpening of the head.

    Well done. Nice setting and pose. Would have been nice to be able to open the frame up a bit on the left side, but, as you say, this is full frame so can't be helped. Nice image. This bird is a little darker than out So. Cal. birds.
