    I was walking around a dock, when this guy popped up and let me capture a few frames.

    400D, 100-400f/4.5-5.6
    1/250, f/5.6, ISO 200

    Would crop a little tighter both top and bottom. Tough bird to expose and have detail. Fill flash would have been good for bringing detail in the neck, could try some shadow/highlight in PS but careful with noise. Would also go over the head with USM pass.

    I like the pose and that you left the proper room up front, also the good head angle and eye contact !!! Looking forward to more. Forgot Might consider increasing you ISO Your camera performs well and should have no problem at 400 or more (if needed)
