I have been trying for three years to get a shot of this whitetail. It was a soft rain right at dark when he came in following a doe. The MK III made this shot possible as I thought no chance it would be blurry.

Canon EOS-1D Mark III, lens 600mm non is f/4, aperture priority, f-stop: f/4.0, tripod, iso 1250, shutter speed 1/25

Great shot at a very unusual specimen. I've never seen 3 beams like that, whitetail or muley. Definately "non typical". As for the shot, I would probably crop some off the top and even clone out the whisker hanging from the buck's chin. If there were more than one whisker, I'd leave them, but the one alone is distracting to my eye IMO.
    Good work!!!

I like the low angle and the vert. comp. Could use just a little more sharpness.

Congrats on finally getting him. Agree with Dan W. that a bit more sharpening is needed. I would have preferred not having a OOF deer in the BG right behind him. I bit better head position would have been nice too. But then again, sometimes those opportunities don't happen.

I like the vertical format and BG and giving him that room above. Makes him look majestic.

I looked back and had this one before he ran off as the third shutter release was all he could take. This is full frame no crop.

I sharpened this photo but there was lots of noise so I hit it with imagenomic noiseware as it was dark when I shot the photo

Healthy looking buck captured in a nice pose. Does he grow this 3rd beam every year?
