One of six in the burst. The late afternoon light caught this Mallard just about right fully illuminating the face. They are so fast your looking at rear end before your second is up.

I like the color of the far wing; just wish the near wing had more going for it. I also like the catchlight in the eye. I wish the image were a little sharper; I might have used a larger aperture to get more shutter speed. Also the BG has some pink blotches in it and there is a sizable halo around the bird.

Good eye Doug. I was wishing the same thing about the shutter. I had been shooting GBH keeping f/11 for big slow W/S when this guy popped up out of nowhere and I wan't really prepared. I see the halo now, obvisouly missed it earlier. That is from over applying USM to finish at R/50 A/15 for a little contrast. The pink slotches are eluding me how-ever, can you spot them for me.

I see pink splotches all over the BG; here's a crop of the sky.

YIKES!! I guess I need new glasses. It looks very lightly pink on my screen. More like big smudges. The only thing I did to the sky was use the median filter. Bad idea I guess. Thanks Doug.
