    Default Horned Lark

    Horned Lark
    Sarchu, Himachal Pradesh, India

    1D2N, 500mm+1.4x, tripod, f/9, 1/500, ISO160, -1/3ev

This is my first post here, though I have been a lurker for a while. I decided to post after reading the very informational critiques posted here. I am hoping to be able to learn from the experts here and contribute whatever I can.
This image was made in the trans-Himalayan region of northwest India last month. The Horned Lark comes to breed in this region in the spring and stays on until early fall.

All comments, critique and reposts welcome. Thanks for looking.

Welcome to BPN, Satie! Great first post, I like the angle, light, details and the food item adds to it. I would only clone out the white piece on the rock (underneath the beak). Keep them coming!

Welcome Satie! You picked a really nice photo for your first post here on BPN. Sharpness is perfect and the BG really works well with your subject. I'd like to see the bird slightly larger in the frame. Also remember that you can post up to 1024 pixels wide (this image is only 700 wide). Thanks for sharing!

Hey Satie, Good to see you here. It's a small world :) That's a nice image to start with. I have been following your North West series and looks like you had a great trip. The lighting in all the images are wonderful. Keep them coming.

Nice to see you here Satie. I agree with Axel about cloning out the droping but the light and BG are fantastic. I like the pose of the bird and the piece of food in the bill is a bonus. The composition works fine for me but I am thinking about a tigher crop, just a little bit, because I like the room around the bird. Keep them coming!
