This pretty female Belted Kingfisher was very cooperative giving me about two dozen shots this afternoon at Bolsa Chica. I'll post a perched shot in a couple of days, but I was really pleased to get this flight pose. It's a pretty heavy crop and wonder if this composition works, probably too much room all around, still learning. :D
Thanks so much for looking, all C&C are encouraged.

Congratulations Kirk on your first Kingfisher BIF.
Never easy but excellent timing and panning.
Beautiful detail.
IMHO a bit off the sky above and below the bird would be worth a try.

It's always great to photograph this species since they are so skittish. I like the light and pose in this one but find the crop too wide. Maybe you could make it less square.
Love the wing position, fanned tail, and eye contact! Agree with Axel about the size of the bird in the frame. I'd crop off the bottom and top. Thanks for posting!
Not bad at all Kirk you captured this hard to get bird in flight quite nicely I agree with the crop recommendations
for web presentation which should be fine this is a bird I have yet to get any decent shots of at Bolsa..... Happy Shooting!!!!
