I caught up with this local beach resident early in the morning walking along the shore of Estero Beach. He was painted with a Nikon D200, using a Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5 - f/5.6G. VR

    Image solution:
    focal length @ 200mm / exposure mode @ aperture priority / in camera matrix metering / ISO @ 400 / 1/250sec. - f/22 / white balance @ auto / AF - mode @ dynamic range, auto - continuous / color space @ sRGB /lighting solution - no speedlight, ambient light / exposure comp @ -0.3EV / tone comp @ +1 degree / hue adjustment @ +1 degrees / saturation factor @ +1 degrees / support platform - hand held, face down, flat on my belly /

    Comments greatly appreciated...

Very nice, Gus. It really does have a painterly look.

I like the color in this one Gus. I do agree about opening up the shadows a bit.

    Hey,

Nice portait. I'm just curious about the orbital ring. Herring Gulls generally have a yellow, or at best an orange prbital ring. This birds orbital ring is bright red. Just wondering if this was how it was in life, or if you enhanced it? I do like those gulls!!

    Hey Dave,
This one was live and in living colors...:D no enhancements, thats the way he is; caught him up close behind a beach chair, I was flat on the ground, he did not even see me... :)

HI Gus - nice one - agree with opening hte shadows - which would also lighten the eye a bit.
