Background was changed. Lot of PS work to make it presentable. I have been looking at it too long to be objective. 1/4000, ISO 800, f5.6. Taken one winter morning. I did not put it under the assignment-because it was taken months ago.

Very well done Kathy,
I like this capture very much. You have good details in the blacks, good eye contact, nice and sharp, very nice wing position and flight angle...my only suggestion would be to give it some more room for the wings on both sides of the frames and just a tad on the top...congrats...good show...
WOW!!:eek::eek: looks like an intro or ad for a movie! awesome PS work kathy. only suggestion would be to either add some contrast to the face, just a little, or selectively sharpen the eyes. not sure which one. i can see it, i dont know how to obtain it without doing it myself!
i like the framing the way it is because it makes it dramatic and i think that is what you were going for. great job, kathy!!!
Totally cool image Kathy! I'd love to hear the story of how you photographed the bird coming right at you. Love the wing position and the eye contact. The PS'd BG looks foreboding and works well here.

Hi Kathy:
Great capture & presentation. You made it pop with super PS enhancement.. .
Space as mentioned only nit.
Thanks for sharing.
Uncle Gus :)
I don't know what the background USED to look like, but this shot is surely worth the time you took in photoshop. It could use more room, but then I agree that the tightness leaves no "room" for doubt that this bird is barreling in on you - and that's the drama.
Thanks for showing us. I'm curious to see the original....

I'd like to hear how to shoot this photo, too. Very dramatic !!
Out of curiosity, I went to your website You said on your site that you get some of your best photographs at your local zoo. Would this be one of those?
Regardless of how you take the shots, you certainly are very good with Photoshop !!

Thank you so much everyone. I doubt I can find the orgininal --but I do have an early version handly. It is a captive bird but not from a zoo ---a falconer. It was taken with a long lens and serverly cropped. I wish I could say I was trying for this photo---but it was really just dumb luck!!!
This is with the suggestions that have been so generously offered. I still not happy with the eyes--I think I over did them.
Stunning! I like the original crop best, more dramatic. Well done, dumb luck or not:)
eyes look better, but i still like that in your face crop of the original!!!!
Hi Kathy: A little bit of curves and light overall sharpening . . . What do you think . . Uncler Gus :)
Killer stock image Kathy I sort of like the mood of the original post Would like more room at the bottom !!
Awesome capture. Very impressive.
Regards,
Thanks so much for the suggestions. As promised this is an early version of the photo. As you can tell I had to select, copy, paste the right wing to the left side. This is the orgininal background. I do like the sharpening and curves effects. I have to admit I do not know much about using curves. Only use it to lighten an image over all.
Kathy:
You did an absolutely wonderful artitistic rendering of your Falcon in the completed image, and showed excellent Photoshop skills to achieve it . . . I am very impressed. Thanks for sharing your photo with us .
Uncle Gus
I thinks - I am seeing a ETL IOW in this one.
well done kathy.
:)
Thank you so much for the kind comments. I was actually using editing software and a simple verison of PS before I became interested in photography. It has "saved" many a photo!!
