    Hi Dave,
    I like your composition, image and capture. You have a good head angle and eye contact. The details are sharp on the bird with good color rendition...My only suggestion would be to diffuse or even out the vertical whitish streak thats touch the bird in the background...good show...:cool:

    Excellent work on the repost...makes all the difference in the world! There is a bit of noise on the tail, did you have to rescue some details from the shadows?

    The raw file is showing that there was no exposure adjustment. The metered exposure was spot meter + 1 2/3 stop. The other settings were Adobe ACR defaults. It was ISO1600 so maybe I can do a better job going back to the raw file and hand adjusting the settings.

    During the bad weather at the end of my trip, I found I could push the shutter speeds much lower than I thought possible. So next time in good conditions I will try lower shutter speeds and lower the ISO.

    Great repost. I might try to sharpen the bird except its tail to avoid adding noise. Maybe a bit more contrast?
