    Dave I like the look back pose you captured and your title fits the shot. By looking at the picture you were shooting in less then ideal weather this is a situation were some fill light would of helped out alot. It would of really helped with the dark feathers in the head by bringing out the details. Thanks For Sharing!

    I will have to try out some fill flash and see how it works out. I do have a flash extender but have tended to reserve flash for when available light is impossible. I am not sure what sort of range I will get compared to the shooting distance at 1120mm focal length.

    I agree with James. The kind of lighting that you had would definitely be a time to try some flash. I struggle with flash. However, you might do what I did.....set up something (I used a stuffed moose) at various distances and played with the flash to see what its limitations were on a dismal day. It gave me an idea of what I could and couldn't do. Despite the lack of light, there is nice feather detail with this one.
