    Out for a walk this morning when I came across a very hungry finch. It didn't seem to mind my presence.

    Hi Sid,
    You captured a very nice bird, love the colors. I find the perch to be a little on the busy side. The head angle could use one degree CW rotation and a tad looking down. The eye is not sharp, focal point is not on the eye...and the entire bird is on the soft side. I did a few modifications to your composition to illustrate and enhance your image. I added more canvas to the left side of the frame to give the bird more space to look into, added canvas on top and to the right for more tail space, I kicked up saturation and contrast, selective lightened your subject,and selective sharpened him; in addition to opening up the area around the eye. Also cleaned up the perch a little, and the twigs around his bill...see if this presents better...:cool:

    Hi Sid Excellent base image and really shines with the suggestions Gus made !! About all I can add is to include the entire perch !!

    Hmmm...Gus's re-post does look better. Sid's original shot is great nonetheless.
