The sun was getting very strong, so I thought I'd try a backlit view. I photographed this image handheld with my Canon 40D. I just got through with trying some heavily shaded images and forgot to change the ISO. Guess I need to pay more attention....... ISO 800, F/9.0, 1/500 sec, sRGB, 100mm F/2.8 Macro, Pattern Metering, Auto WB, Auto Exposure, No Flash.

Excellent idea Richard That is what I call going with the flow !!!! Remember in these situation with strong harsh light a diffuser is the way to go !!!! I think the image would have been even stronger without the second flower in the bg !!!

    Nicely done Richard,
I Iike it, good details and color rendition. Suggestion...I would crop from the bottom just to where the leaf starts embracing the flower, just where the stem ends. and clone out the secound flower. That will take it to the top...goos show...

That repost is KILLER! I'm not sure if I'm seeing some noise in the green leaves or not but the bud is fantabulous!
