This image, made with Canon 70-200 at 200 with a close-up ring, had a rather busy background of OOF light-green leaves.
I eliminated the leaves, creating a solid background with the original color but filtered with Noise-Add noise.
Then I selected the flower and created a new layer adding a drop-shadow. Then I selected just the butterfly and added a drop-shadow with the same parameters as the first one. I liked everything about the image except the background, so I played with it. I'm sure some of you would think of a lot more fantastic things to do with it.

Nice job, Susan, I would not have guessed you added the shadows. I did immediately notice the noise; it does make for a different kind of background texture when it's intentional the way you did it.

Very cool use of shadows! That's one thing I haven't really played with so now I'm inspired to give it a try!

Well done, Susan, excellent compo and the shadows help isolate the subject and give it a 3D effect.

    Keep them coming!
