    A Great Blue Heron walking along the mangroves.
    Canon 40D, 100-400 f/5.6 at 400mm
    1/640 at f/8.0
    ISO 500, Partial metering
    I did another version with a much shaprper Blue Heron but went back to the Orig for this submission as I like this better. Mostly as from camera but minor tweaks possible. I dont know how to tell how much crop was used but cropped it was. Probably too close at top but we will see?

    Very nice habitat, Bill, and there's enough separation of the bird to make it work.

    I love his attentive look and the only think I'd change is blur the water a little bit, or maybe just undo the sharpening there, since the mangrove reflection is a bit distracting :)

    I like the pose but find the BG a bit distracting.

    I guess that's why we photographers differ. I like natural settings (Wild and Free). Birds seem to like the camoflauge around them. I keep looking at the beak and wonder if this may be a young bird from the beak size! I just keep shooting and hope for a pretty bird soon!

    I like this image a lot. blured BG is not always desirable and I find this background interesting and the Heron still pops out. I would use the word intriging to also describe this.
