Unusual pose Must have gotten close from the step angle Would select the eye and do some work lightening, will make it pop. Did well with the light and exposure. Could clone out some of the sticks for a cleaner image !!!
Tech wise suggest using a higher ISO Your camera is a good performer so why not take advantage? At 400 you would have had a comfortable shutter speed !!
I like the pose and stretched wing. I would give it more room and tone down the highlights. I agree regarding ISO and you could apply curves and/or S/H to even out shadows and highlights.
