Pronounced Monfragway, the park is in Western Spain in Extramadura and is home to a large number of raptor species including the worlds largest breeding colony of Eurasian Black Vulture. Not to be confused with the North America Black Vulture it has been renamed the Cinereous Vulture or Monk Vulture. It's the worlds largest bird of prey with a 3 metre wingspan, the American Black Vulture is about half that spread! The most common bird during my visit was the Griffon Vulture with smaller numbers of Egyptian Vulture present. The park is also noted for the Spanish Imperial Eagle and a colony of White-rumped Swifts.

The rock face in the picture, called the Penafalcon is the classic view of Monfragüe though there are breeding cliffs much closer to the road. If you happen to be in Spain dont miss this place.
