    Just outside the door.
    40D
    100mm macro lens
    25mm extension tube
    f/11
    ISO 100
    1/13 s
    +1/3 EV
twin lite macro lite set to 1/4 power
covered with nylon to diffuse the light

Cropped a little form the original
Shadows and Highlights and a little sharpening.
Didn't set black point or white point because there was a little clipping of the blacks already.
Took me a long time to get this shot. The focus is actually on the eyes of the spider.
The whites look a little blown on the spiders back but they aren't, maybe something happens in the compression. I am not sure.

    Comments appreciated.
    Thanks.

nice details in your image. I would like to see even more--more web and more dof to see even sharper the hairs on the legs etc.

I appreciate all your information in how you put your image together. That is very helpful to beginners like me. If this spider is still there, can you get an image from the face/mouth angle? the perspective from the "lunch"?

    Lady Jackie,
I like the composition very much, great placement of mother spider in frame. the web looks fantastic. you have good details with very good color rendition...see if you like the modifications i did basically punching up the saturation, and contrast just a tad, burning in the hot spots on top of the spider and applying a very slight sharpening of the web...

nice job, jackie! would have been nice to have been able to get a total green bg! the white is a little distracting. maybe another round of sharpening too! 1/13s of a second is very difficult to get sharp handheld. maybe would have bumped up the ISO and also opened up a little more to get a faster shutter speed. if you were on a tripod, then disregard.

Nice composition and details on the spider. Agree with Harold on the background.

I think I will have another go at this one tomorrow. Don't know what I was thinking regarding the ISO, thanks for pointing that out Harold.

Good capture, Jackie. I agree with Gus C on boosting the contrast a bit and more sharpening. I think the background here is ok. Would prefer to have greater depth of field though. Still, 1/13 sec handheld...amazing...you did well ;)

Excellent work on this one, Jackie. I tried a web a few weeks ago and failed miserably. Your data will help with the next go.

Hi Jackie This is one fine image One needs to have tried one to appreciated !!! Lots of detail, good composition and like how well the web looks

With some of these images that you can't do much about setting the points try adding black to the neutral/black and will have a difference. Just a couple of points will do it, Could also look to see what a very minor curves will do. Big Congrats on this one !!!

Hi Jackie, I agree with Alfred that spider and web images are very hard to get right as I've had my share of frustration on that score. You, however, got it right!
