    Default Cuckoo

    Hi

Another photo from the recent sessions with the cuckoo, which I can happily report left yesterday. This one a straight portrait at close quarters.

    Taken with 1Dmk3 and 500mm lens at ISO400 1/320s F5.6

    Cheers

    Rich

You did as well as you could. Would have preferred the bird on a nice perch with the feet and tail clearly shown. The oof yellowish piece of grass (in the center near the feet) is distratcing and could be removed. I do love the sharpness and the perfect head angle.

Thanks for the replies and comments.

Artie I did previously post a photo of the bird perched which you may have missed with being away. http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=20134

Amazing bird and I am very happy person with being given such a rare photographic opportunity.

Great looking bird and BG, as you mentioned you allready have a full body image that is great, so this one I like it as presented! The light coming from the back is not ideal but it is still greeat, personally I would've get a lower angle in order to get only OOF grass in front of the bird and that way cover the perch wich doesn't feel great! Congratulaitons!

fantastic shot of a very difficult species. I like the light and colors. The framing of the bird with the oof grass at the bottom is great.

Your other shot with the bird on the perch is also fantastic.
I had the chance to get some close views of this species this spring but unfortunately not photographs.

Hi Rich, very nice shot, you had better light than me, I guess this was before midday. I have another one, close to where this was taken, I will post it shortly.
