    Congratulations Julie,
I like your composition very much. The colors are fantastic and the capture is superb. Now you need the long glass to bring himin close.

Thanks Gentlemen! The sunset tonight was gorgeous...we're just starting to get our fall colors here in Kansas City and the light tonight was to die for! I think if I had had a 1.4 teleconverter on the end of my 70-200mm it would have been perfection...but one thing at a time!

Hey Julie, now your moving into my area and I really like this allot. The soft light and the yellow hues in the background of the sun low in the sky mixed with the greens really make this shot. The position of the bird isn't perfect in the frame, but I like it. You might want to see what you would think if you cropped out the water. I recently had an image that it really helped distribute the balance better. (pros and cons on that) Nice image. This should be IMHO in OOTB - Whatda ya think AL?

Thanks, Bill. I left the water in because that is part of the bird's habitat. I thought it made sense to have it there since he's drug me from one end of this lake to the other to get an image of him! As for OOTB...I didn't really do anything special as far as in camera or post-processing so I don't really think this qualifies as OOTB...although if we had an "Out of the Ordinary" forum I could post it there because I finally got a decent bird image!!! hahaha

I'm having to laugh, Julie, because for me, getting one of these has also been a big challenge!! Here, even at the lake, they are soooo skittish!! I've found a place to get pretty close but not a very good background.... Anyway, glad you finally got one and the light on him really is gorgeous!

Very sweet habitat Jules. Does a need a bit of rotation?

You should come to Florida, you can have lunch with them, across the table :)
