Canon EOS-1D Mark II N, Shooting Date/Time: 9/20/2008 07:45:17, Shutter Speed 1/100Sec. Hand Held, Av(Aperture Value) F8.0, Evaluative metering, Exposure Compensation: 0, ISO 640, Lens: EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM. This is Tessa. She is 4 years old, weighs about 50 lbs, is as big as she will get, and is extremely active, well behaved and constantly moving! She never stops! She is part malamute, but takes on the wolf persona mostly.

Some hybrids can be dangerous and unpredictable because they are part dog. A dog bred with a wolf, like a German Shepard for instance, will be more aggressive, especially when you do not acert control, humanely but firmly. Way too many people will breed wolves with the wrong type and personality of dog, then sell them to unsuspecting buyers for "watch dogs" or play mates for the kids. Then one day the child, or child like adult, will poke, prod or worse abuse the animal, and the dog/wolf will bite or maul the person.

That's when they are rescued and removed from them and sent here, or some place like this. It takes a lot of rehabbing, love, patience, money, time and firm care to get them to a stable personality. Mariah for instance, took years to rehab. Finally today she let me pet and nuzzle her. She now will run right up to the fence and ask for a treat, then she lays down and rolls over or snuggles up to me in submission. If you knew her and know what she has undergone, you would understand how much it took for her to get this far.

Tessa, the animal posted above, has been placed in her pen to help her to rehab quicker. She earns her food and board! We also cleared a new 300 x 300 pen today for some new arrivals. That means new subjects this winter to photograph. Yea! I hope you enjoy this series of wolf posts. It has been a real blessing to be a part of their lives.

Feel free to let me know what you think of this image. Thank you.

I thought about Alfred's suggestion. Here it goes. What do you think of the re-post?

What a beautiful face and trusting eyes. I enjoyed the heart warming story.I like both the original and cropped version, I guess this is a matter of personal taste. After looking several times I sort of lean to the cropped version.
    Best.

Those eyes do not look wild at all, do they? Somehow, there is nothing quite as cool as a wolf image.....She is beautiful!! She does look quite malamute. We have a wolf hybrid, I'll see if I can find a decent picture to post and tell details of why we have him. I'm so glad you care about and for these animals! I like the repost best, I think.
