This poor little hummingbird flew into my sunroom, and was exhausting himself trying to get out of a sealed skylight. After a ha;f hour or so of watching him struggle and hoping he would fly out one of the open doors, I finally got a ladder and gently grabbed him... he was too tired to even struggle. I took him outside, snapped a quick shot from my P&S, then let go. He flew up, hovered about 2 feet in front of my face for about five seconds just looking at me... then shot off to a nearby tree. Within 5 minutes he was back on the feeder.

Here is where he was stranded. He would keep bumping against the skylight, then grab on the edge exhausted.

Note: no animals were injured during the filming of this series....

A wonderful ending to this story. I've had 10 hummers at the feeders and I found a dead one in the garage.....guess he crashed into the wall. A nice closeup of this one....while resting and a "true hand of man". Well done.

    Bill,
I can surely relate. We get hummers trapped in our sunroom quite frequently. My daughter has gotten very adept at capturing them. She slides a broom up under them to land on and then she slowly moves out the door with it. I'm so glad to hear that in your case this ended well for the little guy.

    Chris
