I took this shot from my deck using the 40D, 300 f2.8, ISO 640, 1/250, f2.8, 580EX for fill flash. The bird was in the shade at dusk.

Herb- You controlled the exposure here beautifully. I really like the image. It's nice and sharp and the lighting is great. I like the leaves. A slight head turn toward you would have been optimal.

I like the alert pose and details. I would crop a bit off the bottom and tone down the whites that look overexposed. Keep them coming!

Great capture and excellent detail and pose. I agree with Axel on toning down the whites a little . Many thanks for sharing Herb.

Good pose and composition. Sharp detail, and I like the BG. A slight head turn toward you would have been ideal. As mentioned, the whites are a a little over. Still, a very nice image.

Very sharp and a nice alert posture. The flanks look blown and the distinctive leaves below the perch are somewhat distracting (but you could not do much abou them). What are you using to convert your RAW files.
