Cool pose, great eye contact, soft light and BG. I could see this as a vertical crop, too.

Hi John, love the pose of the "buitre leonado" and its inquisitive look. Very sharp and good job on the exposure. I agre with Axel of a vertical crop. I celebrate that you enjoyed your time in Spain!

Thank you all for the feedback! I tried vertical but didn't like it because it felt cramped. Having seen how huge these vultures are I thought he needs space to allow him to stretch his wings - in my mind...

I probably should disclose that this fellow had eye surgery - a transplant to be precise. Thanks, JR

Lovely image John. I like the pose and the composition as presented works very well IMO. Beautiful subject and sharp detail. Good job on the eye surgery!

Lovely as above. I like the distant background. While the eye surgery was a success, the doctor should have lightened the iris and darkened the pupil a bit... Looks as if the face, neck, and the whole bird could stand a bit more sharpening.
