    Hi Stuart

Welcome to Birds and excellent first post !!!

Would like to see the bird more to the right of frame, normally you want more room in the direction the bird is looking. Also need more room by the tail and to clone the leaf going at the head. Can also darken the light areas in the bg, they take attention form the main subject. I like the overall feel, head angle and eye contact.

Welcome to BPN, Stuart! Very nice first post and I completely agree with Al's suggestions. You can post images up to 1024 pixels which makes it easier to comment. Keep them coming!

    Stuart,
I agree with the other comments...must give room in the direction the bird is facing whether sitting or flying...

    HiI Stuart and welcome.

In addition to the compostional suggestions above do note that the image is a bit too contrasty (it looks as if the light were soft) and a bit too saturated (which adds to the contrasty look). Lastly, the single pine needle that intersects the front of the head is a distraction. If it fits with your personal ethics, it could be easily removed with a Quick Mask or two or some good Patch Tool work. I do like the oof pine needles in the BKGR, esp. those in the upper right.
