Not the usual isolated bird against a clear background that look so good on this forum, but I thought the berries and foliage added to the overall image of the bird. Nova Scotia last week. D300, Nikon 80-400VR, handheld, ISO 800, 1/2000. f6.3. cropped.
I like the habitat Richard. The bird is a little too centered in the frame, and also sits a little high in the image. I might consider a vertical crop, and I would also do a bit more sharpening. Thanks for sharing!
A crop from the rear would work. You did well in contrasty light. The OOF berries in front of the bird look very weird... No clue as to why. Sharp with a good head angle.

i love seeing the habitat.. the usual blurred monocolor backgrounds don't appeal to me, i think they are almost stock looking. this truly captures what the bird IS and I like the centered composition. There wouldn't be a term "centered composition" if it wasn't done, not everything needs to fit in the rule of thirds. I would clone out some of the oof berries in front and around the edges of the image, maybe even a touch of vignetting to make the center your main focal point. I hope to get up to Nova Scotia to shoot someday soon, it looks very nice :)
