Camera was tripod mounted and triggered by wireless remote, out of sight and at a distance.

This image was captured about seven years ago. It remains one of my favorites, and it served to stimulate a keen interest in nature photography. Using the wireless remote, i was able to avoid disturbing the interactions between the mockingbird babies and the parents, as they arrived at the nest to feed. The only problem occurred when the parents occasionally landed on the camera and had to be discouraged by triggering the camera shutter!

    Outstanding Norm !!!!

Excellent set up and camera settings Sure wish you had a D3 mounted on that lens for cranking the ISO !!!! Would increase contrast a bit and selectively sharpen the eye of the middle chick !!! I like it a lot !!!!

Agree with Alfred on the center birds eye and the tot on left, would try and clone beak over branch.

    Super image!

    Thanks Al & Nonda!

I'll try to fix the image as you've suggested and re-post. As for the D3, it would be nice to have one. But the D1 was my one pro model splurge. Since then I've purchased a D100, D70, two D200s and two D300s (my wife is also a serious nature photographer). They all fall short of the D3's capabilities, but the D300s are quite good.

As always, your comments and suggestions have been greatly appreciated!

    Al & Nonda:

I have made most of the suggested changes, and I hope that this image is better.
