Repost: This is a repost of the original image incorporating Maxis' and Lana's suggestion re cropping from the right and fixing the background noise. I also took care of some other things (e.g. specular reflections on the worm(?)) and was a bit more careful re the bright shoulder/neck of the right tern. It still looks hot but according to the eye dropper tool its only the red channel and it seems to be at or below 250. Oh well...

Photographed from a hide in Delta Del Ebro, Spain. The adult Whiskered Tern unfortunately was just a little bit too big for the frame and the outer wings were clipped. So, I followed a suggestion by Daniel Cadieux in another post to crop tighter to avoid the appearance of unintentionally clipping. Let me know if it works.
I don't mind the clipped wings. I see a lot of noise in the BG (not at home with my calibrated monitor) and harsh light. I would also crop from the right. However, you did well with your timing!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes, the light was less than ideal and the noise coming from the 30D at ISO-800 is surely annoying. My laptop on which I normally process my images and which has Noise Ninja installed is currently out of commission. Otherwise I surely would have taken care of it. JR

What an interesting image. The key elements of the action are certainly present in this one with perfect timing. Maybe a little tighter crop on the right and some Noise Ninja when you can......other than that......excellent.
