    Default Pied Kingfisher with Catch

I got a few shots in this series, the Pied Kingfisher's this particular day had us waiting all day for some action and in that last 5 minutes of sunlight one finally decided to grace us with some close ups of him and his catch. I liked this particular shot with the Kingfisher sharp and with movement from the fish in his desperate attempt to get away. This is full frame in fact a little bigger than full frame I added about 10% on the left as I came within millimeters of clipping his tail but luckily I did not. Your C&C always welcome.

EDIT: Have updated image with a new crop as suggested by Tony & Ramon. (Thanks guys)

Excellent action, Michael. I would be inclined to crop in on the bird. The perch is lovely but I think cropping from above and right would focus more on the bird. The plane of focus seems to between the bird's feet and extend further behind than in front so the near wing looks soft. Eye and beak look sharp - in an ideal world having a head turn a little toward the camera would be better but with all that thrashing around you did very well to get this

Repost is very nice, Mitchell (sorry I got your name wrong on my first post). In the intrests of others learning it is better to repost as a new post in the thread rather than replacing the original image as the critique then makes no sense for someone coming to the thread later. Look forward to more of your photos - I have a real weakness for kingfishers!
