Terrific Juan, pose is magnificent, colours are great, sharpness and DOF is fantastic too, I wouldn't mind a bit more room all arround, but as presented it is just outstanding! Congratulations!

Marvellous image! I have nothing to add but to ask about the strange banding observed at some areas in the image? Where did this get from? (horizontall dark blue lines)

Lovely shot Juan! The pose is really cool, and good exposure control. Too bad about the shadow on the far wing, but you dealt with it nicely! I went to donana and saw so many flamingo's there! unfortunately they were too far away, I see you still found a good spot for them during summer! Hope to visit one time in the future during spring and to meet you in Andalusia! Oh and congrats on the front page picture!

Krijn thanks for your kind words, much appreciated :) This guy, and my previous posts of flamingo from this summer are not from Doñana but from the east of Spain (Murcia) where I spent the summer hollidays with my family. I was lucky enough to find a protected area (Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar) near the coast just about 15 m driving from our house. Too bad that tha wetland is surrounded but lots of buildings, houses, roads and the like, but early in the morning the flamingos are very, very cooperative and used to the people so I enjoyed a great time photographing them. August is not the best time to visit Doñana, in fact summer is the worse time for going there. Best time is the fall (if we got rain!), the winter and the spring. I hope that in your next visit we can meet :)

Let me know more details about your visit to Andalucía.

Nikolay thanks for your words. I can´t explain the banding that you are talking about. I noticed when I was preparing the image for web presentation and I tried to fix it but I see that it is still visible. The sky in the original file is very clean, no cloning work here, no complex processing, not a big crop and not a high ISO so I have not idea about the origin of the banding:confused::confused::confused:

Great shot, Juan. I really love the curve of those wings.
